About the Event

The NMDPRA General Counsel and Legal Advisers Forum is the flagship industry engagement initiative of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, designed to engage directly with chief legal officers, general counsels, and in-house legal teams of licensed operators. The Forum serves as a strategic platform for regulatory dialogue, policy clarification, and collaborative problem-solving between the Authority and the legal leadership responsible for ensuring compliance and guiding operational decisions within the petroleum industry.

Against the backdrop of a rapidly evolving post-PIA regulatory framework, the Forum offers participants a high-level opportunity to engage directly with the NMDPRA on areas of legal ambiguity, implementation challenges, and shared compliance responsibilities. It serves not only as a knowledge exchange platform but also as a regulatory feedback mechanism to strengthen mutual understanding between the Authority and the legal leadership of licensed entities. The Authority believes that sustained engagement at this level is vital for building trust, improving regulatory clarity, and reinforcing the legal foundations of a transparent, accountable, and investor-friendly petroleum industry.

This year's edition is convened under the theme "Beyond Compliance: Driving Regulatory Certainty and Investment Confidence in Nigeria's Petroleum Sector", and will build on the foundation of the 2025 edition which succeeded in establishing compliance as a shared value between the NMDPRA and the legal leadership of licensed operators.

Participants will leave the Forum better equipped to interpret regulatory expectations, guide internal compliance strategy, and engage more confidently with the Authority in resolving legal and operational issues.
